Inter Milan wingback Carlos Augusto acknowledged the significance of taking three points against Atalanta in tonight’s Serie A clash.
Speaking to DAZN via FCInterNews, Augusto opened up on his expectations for the upcoming game in Bergamo.
With Federico Dimarco ruled out with a thigh injury, the 26-year-old starts on the left wing at the Gewiss Stadium.
It’s the Brazilian’s second consecutive start in Serie A following an impressive performance against Monza last weekend.
However, the two opponents can hardly compare.
While Monza languish at the foot of the table, Atalanta trail Inter by only three points ahead of the kick-off.
Therefore, every Nerazzurri player must be at their best tonight to take an all-important three points in Bergamo.
Inter can take confidence from their sterling run against Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.
Indeed, Simone Inzaghi can post an eighth consecutive win against Atalanta in all competitions.
Furthermore, the reigning Serie A champions have already won two matches against Atalanta this season.
Carlos Augusto Underscores Significance of Inter Milan Beating Atalanta
Augusto had been on the sidelines until not long ago.
However, he is back to full fitness and ready to help Inter navigate this potentially season-defining challenge.

“I did everything I could to come back as soon as possible because we’ve been unlucky in that position,” he said.
“And we know that against them, the wide players will make the difference. I hope everyone can make an impact.”
Despite demolishing Atalanta 4-0 in September’s reverse fixture, Inter have often failed to impress in high-profile games this term.
“Compared to last year, we haven’t done well in head-to-head matches,” Augusto admitted.
“Hopefully, tonight will be different, and we’ll put in a great performance.
“Especially after Napoli’s result, getting three points would make a difference in such a balanced league.”
