Inter Milan star Hakan Calhanoglu admits he’d gladly welcome Real Madrid youngster Arda Guler at the San Siro.

Speaking to the press after Turkey’s 3-1 win against Hungary via FCInterNews, Calhanoglu hailed Guler’s quality.

Vincenzo Montella’s side thrashed the Magyars in the first leg of their Nations League playoff tie yesterday.

Hakan Calhanoglu captained his side to a crucial victory, while Arda Guler missed the game through suspension.

In addition to sharing the dressing room on an international level, the two could become clubmates next term.

Indeed, the reigning Serie A champions are keen to land the 20-year-old.

Considering Inter’s pursuit of Como starlet Nico Paz faces several hurdles, they’ve developed a backup plan.

Guler would be an excellent fallback option amid talks he could leave Madrid for regular first-team football.

“Arda is a very important player and a brother I love very much. Everyone knows that,” Calhanoglu said.

“Of course, I would like him to come and play with us. After all, everyone wants quality players like him.

“But I don’t know how his situation is, and that’s why I don’t want to get involved.

“After all, he knows my advice. He needs to play more, he deserves it.

“I hope he comes to us, even though I don’t know yet if it’s true or false.”

Guler swapped Fenerbahce for Real Madrid in the summer of 2023 as a generational talent.

However, stiff competition for places has derailed his first-team prospects at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Therefore, he could force a summer exit.

It’s difficult to envisage another season on the bench for a player of Guler’s potential.

As such, Inter could pounce on this opportunity and add another significant piece to Simone Inzaghi’s jigsaw.
