Therefore, he had to withdraw from the Argentina international team early during the pause.

Despite securing additional recovery time, the 27-year-old couldn’t regain full fitness in time.

As such, Simone Inzaghi cannot count on his talismanic striker tonight as Inter bid to avenge a Supercoppa Italiana heartbreak.

“I did everything I could to be ready for tomorrow night,” Lautaro wrote on Instagram. “But unfortunately, time is too short.

“The season is long, and we still have many goals to achieve. See you on the pitch soon.”

With Lautaro unavailable for selection, Inzaghi will turn to Joaquin Correa to fill the vacancy.

Indeed, the Argentine star will get the nod in attack, with Marko Arnautovic set to start on the bench.

Therefore, El Tucu will join forces with French superstar Marcus Thuram in the final third.
