Defender Yann Bisseck looked out of sorts positionally in yesterday’s Serie A match between Parma and Inter Milan.
This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Yann Bisseck started in defense for Inter Milan yesterday. He got the nod ahead of Benjamin Pavard on the right side of the Nerazzurri’s back three against Parma.
However, it was in many ways not a match that suited Bisseck’s style of play.
The German is generally a defender who looks at his best when he has a clear point of reference. He can then use his physicality and anticipation to directly mark a striker.
Yann Bisseck Out At Sea In Parma Vs Inter Milan Clash

Parma did not really give Yann Bisseck such a reference point.
The Gialloblu looked to really use their pace in the wide areas, and hit Inter on the break.
That regularly gave Bisseck a lot of space to defend.
And this looked to be very challenging for the 24-year-old.
In the first half, Inter allowed a couple dangerous counterattacks, and Bisseck was culpable in granting space, not committing, and being caught in two minds.
Then, in the second half, Bisseck got completely lost on Parma’s second goal, where he was nowhere near position to stop Jacob Ondrejka’s shot.
Not even about speed but just basic defensive errors. The biggest one against Milan where the guy froze to allow someone turn and shoot. Then again against Parma he just can’t handle being physical and again allows players to just find an easy pass sideways. De Vrij or Acerbi would rather foul a guy instead of allowing someone find an easy pass. Playing him against Bayern would suicidal at this point because he’s not a big match player and while defending he’s a liability. Do Inter actually assess his plays in defence because the mistakes he makes consistently will for sure hurt Inter if they pretend their minor mistakes. If Inter gets any decent offer for the guy they should cash in as soon as possible instead of trying to get the guy to do the basics right.
The same thing happened in Juventus game and other games. He needs to time his runs not run up all the time like a machine. Think first, assess, evaluate and then execute. Not just run up all the time like an idiot. Pavard is always the safer bet.
It’s a pity he was such a flop against Parma. There were certain matches in which he was good. But in today’s football a player must be good at all times, especially in defence.
get defenders that are not too tall, because the height might affect their speed.
