Riccardo Orsolini feels that Inter Milan “came to play” against Bologna this evening despite tiredness from the Champions League.
The 28-year-old spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. He praised the Nerazzurri for their mentality after coming off the bench to score a spectacular late winner.
Inter Milan saw their momentum come to a screeching halt at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara this evening.
The Nerazzurri had a memorable European night in midweek. They drew 2-2 with Bayern Munich to book their place in a Champions League semifinal.
However, Inter looked a shadow of the team from that match against Bologna this evening.
And that may not have been a coincidence.
The match against Bayern was a tremendously exhausting one on both a physical and mental level.
And Inter Milan looked to be lacking energy even at the very start of the match against Bologna. This undoubtedly owed in part to their exertions in midweek.
And that was particularly a problem against a team like Bologna, who played an aggressive, high-tempo style.
Riccardo Orsolini: “Inter Milan Came To Play” Vs Bologna Despite Champions League Efforts

Riccardo Orsolini gave his thoughts on this evening’s match.
“We were coming off the back of a less-than-stellar match in Bergamo,” he said. “That was a step back from what we’d been doing before.”
“Today we were playing against one of the strongest teams in Europe,” Orsolini went on.
“It’s a win that’s worth double.”
Orsolini then agreed that this was “definitely” Bologna’s biggest win so far.
“Doing it against a team in great form, who have played a lot of matches but also have an incredible squad…”
“And by the way,” the Bologna winger added. “I also want to congratulate them.”
“Because despite their efforts in the Champions League they came to play, and had a great match.”
