Referee Andrea Colombo has come under fire for some decisions in yesterday’s Serie A clash between Bologna and Inter Milan.
Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, argue that Colombo was inconsistent with his foul decisions, and also got the throw-in wrong on Bologna’s decisive goal.
Andrea Colombo was the referee on duty for yesterday’s Serie A clash between Inter Milan and Bologna.
It was a hugely important match for both the Serie A title race and Bologna’s push for a top four spot.
Therefore, it was an unsurprisingly physical match.
And in the view of the Gazzetta, referee Colombo didn’t handle this aspect very well.
There were a number of very physical challenges. Both sets of players were pushing the envelope for what they could get away with.
And Colombo often didn’t punish what looked to be fouls. Furthermore, the Gazzetta, he failed to give a yellow card to Hakan Calhanoglu for a late and blatant foul on Jens Odgaard.
Colombo Under Fire For Refereeing In Bologna 1-0 Inter Milan Clash

On the other hand, the Gazzetta notes, there were occasions where Colombo would award a foul for almost nothing.
This kind of whistling had the effect of breaking up the play and slowing the tempo of the match.
Then, the Gazzetta notes, there were some shenanigans on the long throw-ins for Bologna’s late winner.
First, Inter cleared the ball well into the Bologna half. However, the Rossoblu players carried the ball several metres past the halfway line.
Furthermore, when this resulted in another throw-in, Bologna took it a few metres further forward.
This certainly played a role in the Rossoblu scoring. And in the view of the Gazzetta, it was poor of Colombo not to spot it and order the throw to be taken closer to where the ball went out.
it’s about time that inter put their foot down and request that certain referees don’t referee their matches. it is well known what kind of treatment they received from them, immaterial against whom they play. one notes a certain tiny of gear underneath their official one!!!!
they have done it against inter and nobody is saying anything.but when it goes in inter’s way, the italian media will cry murder and say there was a day light robbery!
