Inter Milan’s quest to defend the Scudetto could find its epilogue in a historic playoff showdown against bitter rivals Napoli.
Per Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, it would be the first title-deciding playoff since 1964.
Bologna’s win at Renato Dall’Ara last weekend blew the Serie A title race wide open, letting Napoli draw level on points.
With five games to go, there’s a genuine possibility that the two contenders finish the regular season on level terms.
Inter Milan & Napoli Could Face Off in Historic Scudetto Playoff Game

Ominously, Inter contested the last title playoff but lost 2-0 to Roma back in 1964.
Previously abolished in 2005, Serie A reintroduced the playoff fixture in 2022/23.
However, it’s not a two-legged tie, meaning ‘the best-ranked’ team would get the advantage of hosting the game.
Simone Inzaghi can still become the first reigning holder to defend the Serie A crown in five years during the regular season.
Yet, Inter must defy a hectic schedule and hope Napoli may drop points against bottom-half sides.
Unfortunately, that looks far-fetched.
