Inter Milan showed their fatigue more than ever in their disappointing Coppa Italia loss against AC Milan yesterday.
Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, note a second half in which the Nerazzurri simply looked out of gas.
Inter Milan did not get off to a bad start in yesterday’s Coppa Italia semifinal second leg against Milan.
In truth, it was just about the best the Nerazzurri have played in a derby all season.
Inter got the better of the midfield battle. They played the match at their preferred tempo.
And the Nerazzurri created a few chances and dangerous situations, while restricting Milan’s key players at the other end.
However, the Rossoneri opener just seemed to completely take the wind out of Inter’s sails.
The Nerazzurri were never able to find a response.
Inter Milan Show Extreme Fatigue In Coppa Italia Loss Vs AC Milan

The big elephant in the room for the decline in Inter’s performance was the fatigue in the squad.
A number of players in the Nerazzurri’s squad – including veterans like Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Matteo Darmian – have played an enormous number of minutes already this season.
The inevitable result has been that Inter have looked weary on the pitch at times.
Second half declines have been a feature in Inter’s recent matches. This has been notable against the likes of Udinese and Parma, for example.
And the Champions League quarterfinal tie against Bayern Munich simply pushed Inter to their limits.
That was clear in Sunday’s Serie A clash with Bologna. Inter were just barely hanging on throughout that match, struggling to raise the tempo.
And it was the Rossoblu who pushed for – and got – a late winner.
Then, against Milan yesterday, Inter Milan simply did not have the energy reserves to find a vital goal.
