Denzel Dumfries has won praise for his “complete” performance for Inter Milan against Barcelona in yesterday’s 3-3 Champions League clash.
Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, hail the Dutchman after his star turn upon his injury return.
Wingback Denzel Dumfries made his first start after returning from injury in yesterday’s Champions League semifinal first leg between Inter Milan and Barcelona.
The Dutchman had been on the sidelines for more than a month with a thigh strain. He was back in the squad against Roma on Sunday, though, coming off the bench.
Denzel Dumfries Hailed For “Complete” Performance For Inter Vs Barcelona

And against Barcelona yesterday, Dumfries gave Inter a very clear demonstration of what they had been missing.
The 29-year-old used his pace and energy to get in behind the Barcelona defensive line time and time again.
Moreover, it was not just an attacking contribution from Dumfries.
The former PSV wingback also locked down his side of the pitch defensively. His positioning and one-on-one defending remained solid under Barcelona’s possession onslaught.
Sommer “Unfortunate” With Own Goal – Dimarco Suffers A “Nightmare”

Meanwhile, the Gazzetta also argue that Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer was “unfortunate” to be credited with an own goal in the second half.
The 36-year-old could perhaps have tipped Raphinha’s stunning long-range shot over the bar. But it was still a difficult ask. And Sommer could hardly be blamed for the ball ricocheting over the line off his back.
On the other hand, the Gazzetta note, Sommer had a decisive influence in the first leg.
The former Bayern Munich keeper made a string of excellent save that kept Inter in the match.
On the other hand, the Gazzetta argue, Federico Dimarco struggled significantly in the first half.
The Italian international had to deal with Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal. And this proved to be too much a task for him, as he failed to close down the Spaniard.
