Lautaro Martinez will “give everything” to return for the second leg of Inter Milan’s Champions League semifinal tie against Barcelona.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Lautaro Martinez had to come off at halftime of Wednesday’s Champions League clash between Inter and Barcelona.
The 28-year-old had started the match. That was hardly a surprise, as he is Inter’s captain, and has started all but one of the Nerazzurri’s matches since the March international break.
However, that relentless schedule evidently took its toll on Martinez.
The Inter captain indicated discomfort during the first half of Wednesday’s Champions League semifinal first leg against Barcelona.
This was particularly the case right before halftime.
And Martinez did not emerge with the rest of the team for the second half. Mehdi Taremi replaced him in attack for Inter.
Lautaro Martinez Will “Give Everything” To Return For Inter Milan Vs Barcelona Second Leg

Yesterday, Inter captain Lautaro Martinez underwent tests with the club’s medical staff.
These showed a very positive sign. Martinez had not suffered a any serious muscle injury.
Rather, Martinez is only suffering from an “elongation” of the flexor muscles in his left thigh.
Therefore, the Argentine should be able to return relatively swiftly.
According to the Gazzetta, the sense is that Martinez should be able to return to fitness after around 5-7 days.
However, that is still a tight timeline as far as being available for the second leg against Barcelona.
Inter play that match on Tuesday. Therefore, there are just four days to go.
That’s not a great deal of time for Nerazzurri captain Martinez to put his physical issue behind him.
However, given the absolutely fundamental importance of the match for Inter’s season, the 28-year-old will do absolutely everything he can to be available for it.
