Massimiliano Farris has won praise for getting the job done as assistant coach for Inter Milan against Hellas Verona.

Massimiliano Farris had somewhat of a strange task before him yesterday evening.

For one thing, the Inter assistant coach was filling in for the suspended Simone Inzaghi.

Inzaghi was serving a one-match ban due to the ongoing investigation into Inter’s ultras.

Moreover, yesterday’s match came in between two legs of an absolutely huge Champions League semifinal tie against Barcelona.

The assistant coach, who has been the trusted lieutenant of Inzaghi since the coach was at Lazio, was not quite the intense and animated presence on the touchline that Inzaghi is.

However, Farris guided the team through the match.

That was not an entirely simple task. He had to organize a team of players who have largely not been on the pitch together.

But from his halftime team talk to his substitutions, Farris made sure that Inter were able to get through the match with minimal fuss.
