Alessandro Bastoni is confident that Inter Milan “will give 200%” in tomorrow’s Champions League clash with Barcelona.
The Nerazzurri defender spoke in a press conference ahead of the semifinal second leg, as reported by FCInterNews.
Inter Milan take on Barcelona in the Champions League tomorrow evening.
It will be a potentially season-defining match for both of the two teams.
Inter have a real chance of reaching the final of Europe’s top club competition for the second time in just three years.
And there is everything to play for after the first leg of the tie last Wednesday ended in a 3-3 draw.
Bastoni: “Inter Milan Will Give 200%” In UCL Showdown Vs Barcelona

“We’re two matches away from winning the Champions League,” said Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni.
“We’ll give more than 110%. We’ll give 200%, because as a group we’re aware of what playing in a semifinal means.”
“It’s not something that happens every year,” Bastoni said. “From the outside that may seem obvious.”
“We have a lot of desire to play. Enthusiasm and confidence. We can’t wait for tomorrow night.”
As far as what Inter learned from the first leg against Barcelona, Bastoni said that “we’ve watched a lot of video, but playing against them teaches you a lot.”
“We’ll learn from the first leg,” the 26-year-old added. “We made several errors in passing that could have created chances for them.”
“But we can improve a lot, and cause problems for them.”
Bastoni declared that “I’m proud of the path that we’ve taken.”
“We’re playing a lot of matches. But we really care about making the fans who follow us, and make sacrifices for us, happy.”
“I’m sorry if on the outside, people don’t see what we put in every day,” said Bastoni.
“We haven’t had a day off in a long time. We care about succeeding.”
“It’s been a tough week,” the Inter defender added. “But I can only thank the group for what we’ve been doing.”
Bastoni Admits “There Will Be Moments Of Massive Suffering” For Inter Fans

Bastoni then told the fans that “there will be moments of massive suffering” tomorrow.
“Because that’s Barcelona’s game. As was the case in the first leg.”
“In those moments, we need the push from all the Nerazzurri fans. Taking into account the fact that it’s eleven against eleven on the pitch.”
“The fans will have to create a hot atmosphere,” Bastoni said. “And we’ll need to stay cool, to make the right decisions.”
Bastoni then commented that “we’re two matches away from winning it all, and we have the fourteenth highest wage bill in the competition.”
“No one would have predicted that at the start of the season.”
“I’m very proud. It’s an honour for me to represent this club.”
Asked if he feels Inter have proven themselves as a big European club, Bastoni replied “from what we saw on the pitch, yes.”
“We’re not hiding from it. That’s what the pitch tells us.”
Bastoni: “Inter Not Prioritizing Champions League”

Meanwhile, responding to the idea that Inter are prioritizing the Champions League, Bastoni said that “the coach never told us to only commit to the Champions League.”
“So absolutely not.”
“There has been a psychological decline,” Bastoni admitted of Inter’s league form.
“But it’s not like we’re twenty points off top spot in the league table. And we’re also in the semifinals of the Champions League.”
Bastoni then commented that “individually we’re not in the top four teams in Europe.”
“Only by staying together can we get the best out of all our qualities.”
The Italian international spoke in glowing terms about Inter’s captain Lautaro Martinez. “Lauti is our physical and moral leader.”
“More than pumping us up, there’s a tension behind matches like this. But if we look back, playing in matches like this is everyone’s dream.”
“So I try to enjoy it,” Bastoni added. “And let myself get carried away by these emotions.”
