As the 2024/25 Serie A season approaches its climax, the title race between Napoli and Inter Milan has intensified.
With three matches remaining, Napoli lead the way with 77 points, while Inter Milan follow with 74 points. The question is: Can Inter Milan pull off a late overtake and clinch the Scudetto?
Napoli Enjoying Resurgence Under Conte
After mounting a disappointing title defence last season, Napoli have bounced back under the guidance of manager Antonio Conte.
They’ve secured four consecutive victories, including a crucial 1-0 win against Lecce, maintaining their three-point advantage at the top of the table. Midfielder Scott McTominay, a summer arrival from Manchester United, continues to be instrumental.
Napoli’s remaining fixtures are against Genoa, Parma, and Cagliari – teams positioned in the lower half of the table. This run-in is seen as favourable, with football betting odds suggesting they will go on and secure the title.
Inter Milan Facing Uphill Battle
Defending champions Inter Milan have faced challenges in recent weeks, including a congested fixture list and injuries to key players. They recently secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Hellas Verona to keep their title hopes alive.
However, the team has struggled with fatigue, having played nine matches in April, and are dealing with injuries to key players.
Inter’s remaining matches are against Torino, Lazio, and Como. While these fixtures are manageable, any slip-up could be detrimental to their title aspirations.
Can Inter Milan Do It?
At this stage of the season, with only three games to go, the Serie A title is Napoli’s to lose. This isn’t just because there are three fixtures remaining, but because Napoli also have a three-point advantage.
Conte’s team are well and truly in the driving seat and on course to get the job finished.
Having Conte as manager, a serial winner, is another huge plus for Napoli. He’s a man who’s been in this position before and knows what needs to happen and how to ensure the Scudetto returns to Napoli.
As mentioned above, Napoli also have favourable fixtures, and will probably fancy their chances of winning all three games.
The dream isn’t over for Inter, but they head into each game knowing it’s a must-win fixture. This will undoubtedly add pressure to proceedings, but if they want to find a way to defend their crown, it’s something they will have to deal with. A slip-up would end their hopes.
Conclusion
As things stand, you’d have to say that Inter are highly unlikely to find a way to overtake Napoli over the next three games.
Everything is stacked against Inter Milan and in Napoli’s favour.
However, if Napoli were to drop points, Inter could strike. They also have a better goal difference too, which could be pivotal if Conte’s side were to slip up.
nobody cares about winning scudetto this year. we already had our second star. I don’t think the majority of people who watched 2010 final will still on this earth if we had to wait another 45years just to win another CL. go for it! napoli has all the advantages from the start cause they only compete in 1 tournament, but hell we’re only 3 points behind. let it slip and go full throttle at CL! NOI SIAMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
most of us agree to this, no treble no scudetto no big deal, but ucl in the mids of those other big clubs chasing it? you will name inter as the winner
Do heavy rotation to have the starters well-rested for the final. A Scudetto more or less is not a big deal; 2nd star already secured. The UCL is the ultimate trophy, and you don’t get to the final every year. The players will need to be fresh and ready to run for 120 mins. They can’t get tired in the middle of a final.
Asllani and Zielinski can prove their worth in these 3 Serie A games.
