Former Inter Milan attacker Goran Pandev tips the Nerazzurri to prevail over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.
While they failed to earn silverware on the domestic stage this season, Inter have been superb in Europe. Their group-stage campaign was terrific, while their run in the knockout stages has been nothing short of spectacular.
The 20-time Italian champions have already upset the odds on a few occasions this season.
They famously knocked out Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals, before prevailing over Barcelona in an epic battle that many have described as the best double-header in the history of the Champions League semi-finals, winning 7-6 on aggregate thanks to Davide Frattesi’s extra-time strike.
And yet, Inter will enter the final as the underdogs once more, according to some of the most trusted bookmakers you can find on bitcoin gambling.
But while punters have identified PSG as the favourites to prevail in Munich, Pandev thinks otherwise. In fact, he believes the Serie A giants will pull off another upset, which would earn a decent return for those willing to bet on Inzaghi’s men.
The North Macedonian was one of the pillars of the 2009/10 side that last brought the big-eared trophy to Appiano Gentile.
Pandev insists the current squad has what it takes to replicate the feats he and the rest of Jose Mourinho’s band achieved 15 years ago.
Goran Pandev Explains Why Inter Milan Will Overcome PSG In Champions League Final
The 41-year-old picks up six reasons why Inter will have the upper hand. This includes the presence of his former Lazio teammate, Simone Inzaghi, on the sidelines.
“The boys will beat PSG. I’m totally convinced about it,” said Pandev in his interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews.
“Because this Inter has experience, quality, a style of play, physical strength, and an iron defence. Moreover, they have a great coach.
“This is how they eliminated Barcelona in the semi-finals, just like we did in 2010. These are important signs.”
Pandev also compares current Inter captain Lautaro Martinez to his compatriot and predecessor, Javier Zanetti.
“Lautaro has those eyes… The same eyes Zanetti had 15 years ago. Javier was our captain, he had been at Inter all his life. Ge had experienced joys and disappointments and he transmitted it all to us.
“He emanated a particular electricity, just like Lautaro does today. And as a former striker, I say that he and Thuram are ideal partners. They will have a great final.”
