Simone Inzaghi has taken the lion’s share of the blame for yesterday’s humiliating PSG win over Inter Milan in the Champions League final.
Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, argue that the Nerazzurri coach was simply nowhere near good enough in setting up his team.
There would be little point trying to deny that Inter Milan were completely inferior to Paris Saint-Germain yesterday.
That could have come down to the individual quality on the pitch. And above all, to the relative lack of athleticism of the Nerazzurri players compared to their PSG counterparts.
But at the same time, the way that Inzaghi had set his team up certainly played a huge role.
Inzaghi Takes The Blame For PSG 5-0 Inter Milan UCL Humbling

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi went with his usual 3-5-2 formation. He had his entire squad fit and available, and was never likely to tinker with the shape.
However, Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique came prepared.
PSG were extremely aggressive in how they closed down Inter deep in their own half. Their forwards and midfielders rotated constantly to ensure that a Nerazzurri player never had time and space to pick up their heads and receive the ball.
And Inter simply had no answers to this. They were never able to find free players or routes up the pitch.
Meanwhile, Inter also looked rather hapless trying to defend their penalty area against the pacey and fluid PSG attack.
In the view of the Gazzetta dello Sport, this was simply a match in which Inzaghi had not prepared his team for the scale of their task.
Izaghi must be replaced. I don’t see him playing an 18 or 19 year old. He can’t even play a 25 year old Fratessi! No matter how many new players are bought…the cosch and his lack of Plan B will not take Inter forward
.
you should just F off. Both you and your lover mikhitaryan and the other 30+ oldies. Time for a change.
Well-said!!
I’ve been one of Inzaghis biggest fans, but after this season, I honestly don’t know where we go from here…. I don’t know if its best that he resigns, or do we finally let him have a transfer budget, and see where we go from here? My biggest worry is how does the team recover from this loss? I feel absolutely numb today, so God knows how the players and coach feel….
My biggest regret however, is something that I mentioned weeks ago…. the players clearly gave up on the league, and put everything into the idea of winning the Champions league… we had at least 5 or 6 opportunities to grab a clear advantage in the Scudetto race, and wasted them all, and now we end up with nothing!!
Going forward- whoever is in charge- we need to make the Scudetto priority number 1!!! Anything that comes after that is a welcome bonus, but the league should always be the main prize!!
I understand the financial benefits of a good Champions league run, but winning the Scudetto, and getting to the semis would have been financially rewarding enough…. to end this season with nothing is beyond devastating…..
yes he Made mistakes but he didnt have option, psg has learned from Bayern n Barca that they cant press inter too high since their backline Will be exposed by inter counter attacking, they also have 3 Speedy wingers that rotates regularly. though the first goal remained the highest cause of mental downfall since its very basic error but i still believe if inter has option deep laying midfieder like brozo in this game very essential. but they wont get brozo level like midfielder anymore in the short time unless they splash big amount of money or they craft one again, aslanni n zelienski should have been but we all know the result.
Nb: challa: cant pass quickly like brozo especially with his left foot
but he is very effective with his long pass unlike brozo defend slightly better than brozo as well, anyway we lost n im sure this second loss Will help greatly for inzaghi experience, you may call me crazy but i believe with my heart inter Will win treble again in the next three years should he remain in inter.
Not only a treble is impossible in the foreseeable future, but I frankly believe this was our last chance to win the UCL for at least a few years. Inter will need a lot of money to keep up with the European biggies.
