Simone Inzaghi says he left Inter Milan to join Al-Hilal as he has “always wanted to coach abroad.”
Speaking on the Saudi club’s official social media channel, via FCInterNews, the ex-Nerazzurri coach explained his decision.
Now it’s official. After four years in charge of Inter Milan, Simone Inzaghi has left to join Al-Hilal.
The 49-year-old had first arrived at Inter in the summer of 2021. He came in from Lazio to replace Antonio Conte at the helm of the Nerazzurri after the latter’s tempestuous exit.
There were certainly ups and downs during Inzaghi’s tenure in charge of Inter. However, on the whole, it was a successful four-year spell.
Inzaghi won the Serie A title, the Coppa Italia twice, and the Supercoppa Italiana on three occasions with Inter. He also guided the Nerazzurri to two Champions League finals.
Therefore, there had been a feeling that if Inzaghi were to stay for the long haul, he could build a long-term cycle in the club’s history.
However, that is not the decision the former Lazio coach has made. He has instead opted for a major change in scenery.
Inzaghi Explains Switch From Inter To Al-Hilal: “I’ve Always Wanted To Coach Abroad”

Simone Inzaghi gave his first words as coach of Al-Hilal. “First of all,” he said. “I’m very happy to embark on this new experience.”
“My desire has always been to coach abroad, as well as in Italy.”
“And Al-Halal, for me, is a great opportunity for me career,” said the former Inter coach.
Inzaghi said that “I looked at the history of the coach.”
“I saw the millions of fans,” he continued. “Those who are at the stadium.,”
“Even in the Asian Champions League match in Jeddah, the stadium was full of fans,” he noted.
Absolute pos!! I’ve never got the hype with this guy and he’s now pulled this money grabbing BS!
“I have no energy left”
“Immediately jumps on a plane to swim in a bags of money”
Yeah I bet when you “dreamed” of coaching outside of Italy, saudi was top of that list right?
What a loser!
I hope he fails, I hope he never gets that big job.
All the people on here that abuse conte, at least he was honest and left cos the board wouldn’t back him, he didn’t make up fake reasons and talk to other clubs behind our backs.
Inzaghi has under achieved with the squad (and state of the rest of serie a) in these years
now he pulls this sh*t
And everyone goes “what a guy, wish him well”
You’re all deluded, he’s done us so damn dirty it’s untrue.
You did well to move on. With Oaktree’s mercato strategy no smart coach would accept the job.
