Davide Frattesi could be in for a surprise stay at Inter Milan after Cristian Chivu took over as coach from Simone Inzaghi.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Just a couple of weeks ago, Davide Frattesi’s story at Inter Milan seemed definitively over.
It is no secret that the Italian international is unhappy with the playing time he’s received so far.
Already in January, Davide Frattesi had reportedly pushed for an exit. And Roma were certainly keen to try and snap him up.
However, the 25-year-old remained at Inter over the second half of the season. And it would certainly be fair to say he had an impact, scoring key goals in the Champions League.
Nevertheless, Frattesi hardly elbowed his way into the first-choice Inter starting eleven.
Therefore, the rumours have been bubbling up that the Italian would leave Inter this summer. Reportedly, Roma are still keen – and above all, newly-crowned Champions Napoli are eyeing Frattesi up.
Davide Frattesi Could Stay At Inter Milan Under Cristian Chivu

However, reports the Gazzetta dello sport, the arrival of Cristian Chivu looks to have changed everything for Davide Frattesi.
The former Sassuolo midfielder always looked a bit like the odd man out under former Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi.
Therefore, had Inzaghi stayed on as Inter coach, it was virtually certain Frattesi would have left this summer.
The 25-year-old saw the writing on the wall. After a bust-up with Inzaghi over the fact that he didn’t even play in the Champions League final, he had made up his mind.
But Inzaghi decided to leave Inter after the Champions League final. The former Lazio coach skulked off to Al-Hilal.
And Cristian Chivu is a different coach with different ideas.
Indeed, the Romanian expects different qualities from his midfielders. In particular, the timing of Frattesi’s off-ball runs could be more useful in his system.
Therefore, Frattesi could at least have a chance of starting regular under the new regime.
Therefore, reports the Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian international has had a change of heart. He currently wants to stay at Inter and try his luck at a place in the starting eleven.
This guy was really betrayed by Inzaghi by not playing him instead using someone like Asllani who as expected really adds nothing in big matches
honestly I don’t like him as midfielder as he doesn’t qualify for it. he could be trained as shadow striker or pure striker. give him another year and see if he could give something to the team. we wouldn’t go far in CL if it wasn’t for him
It never hurts to have a goal scoring midfielder! If Chivu can find a way of getting the best out of him, I’m all for it! If he gets regular starts, he should be aiming for 10 goals at least!!
he played with stankovic and Sneijder before, i believe he will find a way.
I Hope he stays. Not only for his skills but also for his mindset. A true warrior
