Italian journalist Fabio Ravezzani offered an insight into what happened between Inter Milan and Simone Inzaghi before the Champions League final.
During a video on the QSVS YouTube channel via FCInter1908, Ravezzani confirmed the words of Al-Hilal CEO Esteve Caldaza.
Earlier today, Caldaza stunned everyone close to the Nerazzurri with a shocking statement.
Indeed, he stated that Al-Hilal had struck an agreement with Simone Inzaghi to take the job days before the Munich final.
Though the news left Inter chiefs furious with the 49-year-old, they were not unprepared for such an outcome.
What Happened Between Inter Milan & Simone Inzaghi Behind the Scenes

Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio are among the best in business. As such, they knew something was wrong heading into the game.
Indeed, Inzaghi never played down talks of Al-Hilal’s monstrous contract proposal in those critical days.
Furthermore, the ex-Lazio manager refused to discard the possibility of moving to Saudi Arabia when confronted by Marotta.
Therefore, his exit didn’t catch the Inter leadership off guard.
Marotta was scouring the market for replacements even before the Nerazzurri left for Munich.
However, he couldn’t lure Cesc Fabregas to the San Siro and had to settle for Cristian Chivu instead.
I already expected this kind of story during the UCL final. Inzaghi’s affair with Al-Hilal caused distraction in the team as reflected in their surprisingly very poor performance. Before the final, Inzaghi knew that would be his final game in-charge of Inter, regardless of the result. If Inter won the final, he would have been remembered as a hero. But, now, since the opposite happened, fans might already see him as a traitor due to his greater love for money. As a professional who still has a working contract, you need to respect that trust. I think the football management needs to have a specific rule to prevent coach from receiving an offer while he’s still had years of contract. In a final game as big and reputable as UCL, you must have total focus and respect to your opponents; otherwise, you’ll get an embarrassing result.
i was inzaghi’s supporter before there was a news that al hilal actually had agreement with him before UCL FINAL, but their president wanted to leave him alone
even if there wasnt but there was already negotation, for me it was betrayal complete betrayal. i thought he was looking for glory but he was looking for money instead. what good comes for his resume after winning asian champions league?
now on the other hand chivu has better chance of having success for solid team foundation he built.
the thing was… Inzaghi left chivu with broken piece of a vase. barella, bastoni and majority of our boys is evidently mentally broken and couldn’t even carry on their job in the national team. i just watch the monterrey game and the boys looked like amateurs ngl. hope chivu can pick them up and soon.
There was always a feeling that Inzahgi was going to leave. It was poor management from Inter to not prepare for other scenarios tbh.
