Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu says that he told his players to “enjoy themselves” in today’s clash with Monterrey.
The new Nerazzurri coach spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, ahead of the Club World Cup opener. It will be his first match in charge of the club.

Today’s match will be the start of a new era in several respects for the Nerazzurri.
Less than three weeks ago, Inter were playing in the Club World Cup final. They took on Paris Saint-Germain.
However, that match ended in a chastening 5-0 defeat for the Nerazzurri.
Then, just a couple of days later, Inter lost their coach Simone Inzaghi. The 49-year-old decided to leave in order to accept a big money contract with Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal.
Inter then moved quickly to replace Inzaghi with former defender Cristian Chivu.
Therefore, the Romanian has been working quickly to get the team ready for an entirely new competition. The expanded format of the Club World Cup.
Cristian Chivu Reveals Message To Inter Milan Squad Ahead Of Monterrey Clash

Asked what he told his squad, new Inter coach Chivu replied “that they have to enjoy themselves.”
“They have to do so responsibly. And we have to honour this competition, with responsibility and a good style of football.”
Meanwhile, Chivu explained why he decided to start Sebastiano Esposito this evening. The 22-year-old’s inclusion in the Inter starting eleven has certainly come as something of a surprise.
“It’s a competition, and a group stage where you have to play every three days,” said the Nerazzurri coach.
“So we have to manage our energy. And give everyone a chance to play a bit, and maintain the team balance.”
