Beppe Marotta says that Inter Milan have “moved on” from the exit of Simone Inzaghi despite rumours of turmoil behind the scenes, and a “new era has begun.”

The Nerazzurri President spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews. He also kept his lips sealed regarding rumours that Inter are close to signing striker Ange-Yoan Bonny.

Inter Milan parted ways with coach Simone Inzaghi at the start of this month.

The 49-year-old’s exit was not without controversy. He left the Nerazzurri to join Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League, for a far superior financial offer.

And there were reports of negotiations between Inzaghi and Al-Hilal for a number of weeks before he actually made the move official.

Furthermore, all of this came in the decisive run-in of Inter’s season. Therefore, the talks were reportedly going on whilst Inter were trying to haul back Napoli in the Serie A title race.

Moreover, the negotiations were also reportedly happening as Inter prepared for the Champions League final.

Therefore, some reports have emerged that Inter were very angry with the manner in which Inzaghi handled his exit at such an important moment in the club’s history.

Inter President Beppe Marotta gave his thoughts on Inzaghi’s departure. “The important thing is that one cycle has ended, and a new one has begun.”

“I don’t run around after rumours, denials, declarations,” he continued.

“Everyone knows what [Inzaghi] did,” Marotta said. “We’re grateful to Inzaghi for what he gave us.”

‘But at the same time, Inter’s history goes on. And today we pass the torch to Chivu, and we’re very happy.”

Meanwhile, Marotta also called reported Inter transfer target Ange-Yoan Bonny a “great player.”

“He’s on the list of players that the club are tracking,” the Nerazzurri President added of the Frenchman.

“But he’s a Parma player. So at the moment I don’t have much to add.”
