Inter Milan are still searching for a “turning point” between Simone Inzaghi and Cristian Chivu after their Club World Cup opener against Monterrey.
This is the view in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
The Cristian Chivu era is now officially underway at Inter Milan. The Romanian was on the bench for his first Nerazzurri match, in the form of their Club World Cup group stage opener against Monterrey.
There were mixed signs from that match, it would be fair to say.
In terms of the formation, Inter started out with a the 3-5-2 shape that had been customary under Inzaghi. However, they also switched to a 3-4-1-2 and 3-4-2-1 in the second half.
And then, as far as new signings go, there were two debuts. Luis Henrique looked bright coming on as a substitute in the second. Less so the shaky Petar Sucic entering in midfield.
Inter Milan Still Searching For “Turning Point” Between Inzaghi & Chivu

Then there is the matter of set piece defending.
Inter Milan had always gone with pretty much a purely man-marking set pieces defending set pieces under Simone Inzaghi.
On the other hand, there are already clear signals that Cristian Chivu is ready to change that. Inter defended much more zonally against Monterrey.
In the view of Tuttosport, it is doubtful whether this is the right plan. After all, Inter conceded just twice from corners last season.
However, Chivu will deserve some time to see whether his ideas can really work in guiding Inter successfully out of Inzaghi’s reign.
Right now, the team are still looking for that decisive turning point, though.
ah tuttos as expected
the fuck is this? it was his first game after few days taking over the manager position. also the players still need to adapt to his tactic and mentally recover from CL final loss. we couldn’t win against mexican team? well we couldn’t win against a mediocre team that was in relegation fight like parma smh
You’re right. We dropped so many points in Serie A despite having heroic performances in CL. We dropped a total of 16 points from winning positions last season. But somehow everything turned to shit after the first game according to some people here. I think they forget that the team was running on fumes since April and that the season literally ended three weeks ago. Also, key players like Hakan, Dumfries, Dimarco, Thuram, and Fratessi were either unavailable or didn’t start against Monterrey. Oh, and Inter dominated the game from start to finish but couldn’t capitalize on clear-cut chances.
Lol I don’t expect fireworks in the upcoming season but I expect a much better playing team. Some of those people have no patience smh
Doubts after one game lel. Talk about impatience. Did they even watch the game?
