Cristian Chivu says Valentin Carboni has “worked hard” to get to the point of scoring the late winner for Inter Milan against Urawa Red Diamonds.
The Nerazzurri coach spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, after the match. He also admitted that the win “wasn’t easy” for his Nerazzurri side.
Valentin Carboni was not the likeliest hero for Inter Milan against Urawa Red Diamonds.
The Argentine is only just coming back from an ACL tear that has kept him out since October.
But it was Carboni who Inter coach Cristian Chivu turned to late in the Nerazzurri’s Club World Cup match against Urawa Red Diamonds.
When Chivu threw the 20-year-old on off the bench, Inter were trailing 0-1 in the Club World Cup group stage clash.
However, Lautaro Martinez was able to find the equalizer for Inter.
From then on, it looked as though the Nerazzurri would be settling for a point.
However, it was Carboni who found himself with the ball at his feet inside the penalty area in stoppage time. And the Argentine showed great technique and composure to tuck the ball into the far corner.
Chivu: “Valentin Carboni Worked Hard” For Inter Winner Vs Urawa Reds

Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu noted that “Carboni was playing his first match after tearing his cruciate ligament.”
‘He hadn’t played in eight months. He worked hard to recover.”
“I’m happy to see him happy,” Chivu said of the match-winner.
Then, Chivu commented that “the opposition played a good match, a serious match.”
“As for us, we tried everything to score. And to create confusion in an organized defense that defended very deep.”
The Inter coach then noted that “in the second half, with Pio coming on, we tried to make better use of crosses.”
“We kept believing in it right until the end. And we did it.”
“I’m proud because against a solid team like Urawa, it wasn’t easy,” Chivu declared.
neither he or pio should leave the goal was scored by carboni and assisted by pio they are jewels dont let them go!
apart from the goal, his plays, any good?
Got potential if he gets more playing time.
He’s got an eye for goal and Inter are seriously in need of a midfield player who can score goals other than Frattesi who is on his way out. I hope Frattesi stays tho because Inter will be in a lot of situations where they need a goal and teams are just defending deep. Barella is the creator but not a goal scorer. Carboni wasn’t afraid to shoot the moment he got half a chance then in the end he got a good rebound to just pass the ball into the net. I think neither of Hakan or Barella have the instinct of going inside the box and try to score something that Frattesi does automatically and now Carboni but the potential with Carboni is that he seems to also shoot from outside the box. If Inter sell Carboni it would be a huge mistake because there’s more competition in the league and Inter will play a lot more matches than other teams so better give a chance to young players
