Jose Mourinho says that Inter Milan coach and former defender Cristian Chivu is “like one of my children.”
Mourinho gave his thoughts on the Romanian to Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. He also joked that while he hopes Chivu is successful, he doesn’t want his iconic Treble to be equalled.
Cristian Chivu took over as Inter Milan coach last month.
The 44-year-old arrived after the shock departure of Simone Inzaghi to chase big money at Al-Hilal.
Chivu has a huge job on his hands inheriting the project of Inzaghi at Inter.
And the Romanian does not have a great deal of senior coaching experience. Just a grand total of thirteen matches in charge of Parma over the second half of last season.
However, Chivu is someone who knows Inter inside and out. He was the coach of the Nerazzurri at various youth team levels, including three seasons in charge of the Primavera side.
Meanwhile, Chivu had also spent seven years as an Inter player, as well as playing for the likes of Roma and Ajax.
Chivu was a key part of the iconic Nerazzurri team that won the European Treble of the Serie A title, the Coppa Italia, and the Champions League during the 2009-10 season.
That had been with Jose Mourinho as coach. And inevitably, the Portuguese was something of a mentor figure to Chivu.
Mourinho Calls Inter Coach Cristian Chivu “Like One Of My Children”

Former Inter and current Fenerbahce coach Jose Mourinho called Cristian Chivu “one of my children.”
“He’s learned from his experience. Which has been enormous.”
“But now it’s different,” said Mourinho of Chivu stepping up to the senior Inter job. “It’s one thing to be a great player, and another to be a great coach.”
“Let’s hope that he manages to make that transition.”
Mourinho noted that Chivu “loves Inter.”
“And Inter loves him. He’s a fantastic guy. He has desire, courage, and personality.”
Then, Mourinho joked that “the only thing I hope is that he doesn’t win the Treble.”
“He can win the Champions League. The Scudetto.”
“But I’m selfish,” Mourinho admitted. “I would like for Inter to win the Champions League again, but never the Treble.”
Forza inter
Inter is the future
fluminense fc 2
Inzaghi al-Hilal 1
FInally Al-hilal are gone to where they belong. They shouldn’t have won against m. city.
fluminense fc vs Inzaghi al-Hilal 1.
Al hilal is out finally!
Inter will win treble with chivu, and you will be remember as the first time to win it jose.
Fluminese 1 – Inzaghi 0. Hope he goes home tonight!
Looks like 26 mil per season cannot buy wins :-D
Let’s hope al Hilal lose. They are down by one goal and 5 minutes to go!
Glad Mister continued like he used at Inter
Finally they are out!
Wish Chivu had used the youngsters more instead of heavily relying on Asllani and Mikhi
I wouldn’t worry about it too much Jose, although a true Interisti would want us to win the treble every year… just sayin….
Not like he can do anything about it 🙂
But for the sake if argument – fok him :)))
Inter should win the domestic double this year and aim to reach as far as possible in europe. This new format leaves room for error. Just look where psg finished in the group phase
I admire your optimism, and I hope you’re right! Personally, I think this will be a season of transition, and as much as I want Chivu to succeed, I don’t think he’ll win a Scudetto in his first full season of management (if he does, we may have found our own Pep/Luis Henrique!!) I’d be happy with top 3, and quarter finals of the Champions league… Coppa Italia or Super Cup would be a nice bonus, and a way to start a new cycle under Chivu….
FLuminense 1- Inaghi 0
He is a true Interisti. If your brain has read the article carefully you would have realised that JM was joking.
Fuck off dipshit…. The only reason you get to voice your childish, pathetic opinions on here is due to the inability to block you!! For the last time, I have no interest in interacting with the world’s biggest dickhead (that’s you, just in case you need me to spell it out even more)….. Once more for good measure….. FUCK OFF, DIPSHIT!!!
Your statements and hostile are reflective of your rudimentary and pre-primitive intellect. Enough said!
Says the man who started the conversation by saying “if your brain had read the article”… I truly hope that enough has been said, and let me be clear… Intellect aside, of which I have no doubt who is the superior (and it most certainly isn’t you) I would love nothing more than to meet you face to face, and smash your fucking teeth through the back of your pathetic skull!! Hostile enough for you? Now, in case you are somehow still managing to misinterpret my expressed desires to cease all interactions with you of any kind, let me try to make it as abundantly clear as possible – once again- by issuing the only statement you will ever receive from me in any future context…. FUCK OFF DIPSHIT!!
Pre-primitive… lol! You must be god, or whatever you believe in…
“Pre-primitive” can refer to stages of development before the “primitive” stage, particularly in embryology or in the context of human development. In embryology, “pre-primitive streak” stages in chick embryos precede the formation of the primitive streak. In a broader sense, “pre-primitive” could describe the earliest phases of a society or individual, before they reach a more established or “primitive” state.
Reading is good for your brain!
Wow sad news: On the 3 July 2025, Diogo Jota and his brother André were killed in a car crash in the Province of Zamora, Spain, while returning to Liverpool for pre-season training. Jota had recently undergone minor lung surgery in Porto and, on medical advice not to fly, had planned to return to the United Kingdom by taking a ferry from Santander.
don’t worry, there won’t be any titles for years to come
hahaha true
