Inter Milan are reportedly ready to ramp up their pursuit of Parma defender Giovanni Leoni.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the Nerazzurri could move for the 19-year-old without making sales first.
It is no secret that Inter Milan are big admirers of Parma defender Giovanni Leoni.
The Nerazzurri had already been trying to sign the teenage defender from Sampdoria last summer. However, Parma beat them to the punch.
The Gialloblu signed Leoni for a fee of around €7 million.
But this summer, Inter’s interest in Leoni has only grown stronger. All the moreso because of the arrival of Cristian Chivu as coach.
Inter Milan Ramp Up Pursuit Of Giovanni Leoni

It has long looked as though Inter would need to make sales to fund a move for Leoni.
The Nerazzurri have already spent the better part of €70 million on deals for Petar Sucic, Luis Henrique, and Ange-Yoan Bonny this summer.
Therefore, Inter have been turning their attention to bringing in cash to make further moves.
Parma would demand €30 million at the very least for Leoni.
However, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter are now ready to move for the teenage defender – even if they don’t make any sales first.
It is now looking as though Hakan Calhanoglu will stay at Inter this summer. Therefore, the Nerazzurri will not have to invest in a suitable replacement for the Turk like Atalanta’s Ederson.
Accordingly, reports the Gazzetta, Inter’s priority will be to invest in signing Leoni. Therefore, they are hoping to decisively beat city rivals AC Milan in the race for the 19-year-old’s signature.
We’ll sign him then Hakan will be sold and we won’t have enough money left to get a decent replacement.
Not worried about that. Niko can play that possition. So can a pivot of him and Susic, which seems more possible. If Chivu wants to switch to 3-4-2-1, then double pivot as DMs. Worked wonders for Carlo when he moved Pirlo back to Rhino. Susic-Barella could be a wonderful DM combo. Aslani could trive as well if not left with all the responcibility of that deep laying playmaked simone worked with. Mikhi and Davide could be used as AM. And this inside 4 could switch to gain stamina durring transitions. I’ve said it before and i’ll say it again – really excited about the new season. And glad they get to finally rest a bit. 2023/2024 season. Then Euro 2024. Then 2024/2025 season. Then CWC. Exhausting schedulle. Forza Inter
