Inter Milan have an apparent willingness to sell Benjamin Pavard, but the loss of the French defender could prove to be an “own goal.”
This is the view in Italian outlet FCInter1908. They suggest that while the 29-year-old’s injury and fitness concerns are valid, it would be a difficult sale to justify financially or on sporting grounds.
Recent reports have suggested that Inter are ready to sell Benjamin Pavard.
The likes of Galatasaray, Lille, and Saudi Pro League side Neom have all shown an interest.
Inter signed Pavard two years ago from Bayern Munich. And the France international has certainly had his part to play, helping the Nerazzurri to the Serie A title in his first season at the club.
But perhaps Pavard, who turns thirty next season, is not in line with the future of Inter’s project.
Would Inter Selling Benjamin Pavard Be An “Own Goal”?

FCInter1908 argue that, in sporting terms, there would be little justification for selling Pavard.
The Frenchman is a World Cup winner with absolutely no shortage of experience competing for top trophies, both at Inter and Bayern Munich.
Pavard’s pace and one-on-one defending ability have frequently been key for Inter.
Furthermore, the 29-year-old’s technical ability has had an important role in how the Nerazzurri attack.
Where there are issues is with Pavard’s fitness.
As FCIN1908 note, the Frenchman has made 23 appearances in each of the last two Serie A seasons. That means that he’s been absent for fifteen matches in both campaigns.
Therefore, Pavard is not necessarily a player Inter can consider reliable. And it’s not exactly certain that will change moving forward.
Then, FCIN1908 consider the financial aspect of losing Pavard.
The Frenchman’s book value to Inter is still around €20 million. Therefore, there would be no chance of the Nerazzurri accepting an offer below that, as they hardly wish to take a capital loss.
However, FCIN1908 note, the Nerazzurri may accept a fee not much higher than that.
At €25-30 million, Inter would hardly be guaranteed the funds to sign a top-level replacement for Pavard.
Just sell him to fund both Solet and Bade if it iis possible by selling pavard for like 24 mln
Pavard is always injured and getting old
Yeah, 29…he should just retire at that age.
Ffs bring Pirola back at least, he’ll cost us around 10 mil, our youth product, young, can still be even better. Good season at Olympiacos. By the beginning of season 26/27 we’ll lost for sure at least 4 CBs, and give Palacios a couple of chances instead of bringing oldtimers in 2nd half of easier games.
