Inter Milan have reportedly decided to focus on signing a midfielder before deadline day, with Manu Kone still a target.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan have a couple weeks left to finalize their squad before the transfer window slams shut.
And the big question has looked to be what area of pitch will be the Nerazzurri’s priority.
Inter have been trying to sign Ademola Lookman for over a month. And in the meantime, they’ve also reportedly been eyeing up other possible targets in attack.
Meanwhile, Inter also reportedly want to sign a defender. They’ve missed out on Koni De Winter and Giovanni Leoni, but could still sign a player for the backline – particularly if Benjamin Pavard leaves.
Inter Targeting A Midfielder – Manu Kone Still A Target
According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, though, Inter have decided that their main goal is to sign a midfielder.
The newspaper report that the Nerazzurri do not feel that they currently have what they need in midfield.
This is particularly the case considering Cristian Chivu’s desire to play with a 3-4-2-1 shape.
Therefore, Inter want a midfielder who can play in the holding role. A player adept at winning and retaining possession.
According to the Gazzetta, Inter still consider Roma midfielder Manu Kone a target.
The Giallorossi rebuffed the Nerazzurri’s initial bid for the Frenchman. However, there is still a lingering sense that they may have to sell him in order to finance sales.
Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini acknowledged as much yesterday.
