This summer transfer window has raised questions about whether Inter Milan were “better off when they couldn’t spend.”
Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews, argue that the Nerazzurri have strengthened in attack. But doubts remain about their overall transfer strategy.
Inter Milan’s financial woes have not been any secret in the last few years.
The Nerazzurri have had to make big sales like those of Romelu Lukaku, Achraf Hakimi, and Andre Onana.
And coming in the other direction, Inter have relied on low-cost or free transfers. The signings of veterans like Edin Dzeko, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Francesco Acerbi have been key.
Were Inter Milan “Better Off When They Couldn’t Spend”

This summer has been Inter’s biggest-spending since 2019.
The Nerazzurri have brought in four players for significant transfer fees. And they may yet make one or two more signings.
However, the overall strategy has also shifted significantly.
Inter have not prioritized signing players ready to contribute right away. Instead, they are bringing in players they hope can grow into the team.
In the view of the Corriere della Sera, there are big question marks about this approach.
The newspaper argue that Inter certainly look more formidable in attack, where Ange-Yoan Bonny and Francesco Pio have replaced veterans like Marko Arnautovic and Joaquin Correa.
However, elsewhere on the pitch, the lack of readymade quality and experience may well come back to haunt Inter.
The transfer stategy has been good so far. The only issue was time wasting with sales and the pursuit of Lookman. We missed De Winter and Leoni. We have 5 aging players but it will be fine to run them side by side with new blood.
Ideally, we need two quality defenders, a winger and a cam (not to mention a GK).
It’s good, but not at all perfect yet.
That’s a stupid argument to make. All the premier league clubs thrive on building for the future and spending on quality players; the quantity doesn’t matter. Also to address this concern, PSG wiped the floor with us with a very young squad. Question marks are raised when we need to rebuild for the future? Lol that’s an insane take. I’m sorry but whoever wrote this piece needs a slap to the back of the head to get some sense in there.
Mate, how on earth are you even comparing this to the Premier League?
Talking about the Premier League like it’s the universal model is just not right. Serie A clubs have been building competitive squads for decades, balancing experience with young talent, so that’s literally how Inter, Milan or Napoli rebuilt themselves. And let’s not pretend PSG beating us with a young squad suddenly erases the fact that quality in Italy has always come from a mix of future planning and experienced players. Quantity doesn’t matter, true, but pretending only the Premier League knows how to do it? That’s a clown take.
“PSG wiped the floor with us with a very young squad.”
PSG’s youngsters were top talents, not mid-table ones like Henrique and Diouf.
They were bought as top talents?
How do you judge players so quickly without even giving them a chance? I’d understand being on their backs after 6 months…but less than 6 matches. Nah – That’s ridiculous.
dude still can’t move on from PSG loss. we lost that big because of some reasons, the players were dead tired and the coach was rumored to move to other club before the final even begun and you can’t just ignore the fact that PSG beat other big clubs before us which means they were on fire like inter with less problems behind them towards the final. those young bloods you mentioned lost against chelsea in CWC.
the deadwoods and the management you complain so far have been giving thrill and joy for years now. get a grip, kid!
You’re looking for an argument I don’t have the energy for. Where in my statement did I criticize management? I am actually satisfied with all they’ve done this transfer window including picking Chivu as our coach. I literally have zero complaints about management.
This is the dumbest question I’ve ever heard. People complain one way or the other. They have not seen them play and already think they suck. We’ve had a successful preseason showing massive progress to Chivus football and the new siginings showed what they were capable of in a positive manner. This is a risk that we need to take just like many other teams like Chelsea with dortmund, Barca and Benfica.
nice speech Petery
Madrid had the top n quality players a team would filled yet they run d season with no trophy
galitocos as we may call them does not win trophies, it takes team work , so let’s hope we can groom the youth to help with d current squad to build a great chemistry on n off the pitch
hope we get one or two defenders to help out(our very weak point going into d season)
