Inter Milan star Marcus Thuram earned a call-up to the France squad for the upcoming matches against Ukraine and Iceland.

According to France’s official X profile via FCInterNews, Thuram will be part of Didier Deschamps’ 23-man squad in September.


France will kick off their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying cycle away to Ukraine before facing Iceland at home.

Moreover, Les Bleus are odds-on favorites to secure a top spot in Group D and qualify for next summer’s tournament.

Marcus Thuram has been outstanding since swapping Borussia Monchengladbach for Inter in 2023.

Furthermore, he started the new season with a match-winning brace against Torino on Monday.

However, the 27-year-old has often failed to translate his formidable club form onto the international level.

Perhaps this could be his opportunity to fully convince Deschamps.

On the other hand, Deschamps has left Benjamin Pavard out of the squad.

Despite his prominent role at San Siro, the former Bayern Munich center-back remains on the fringes of the national team.
