Inter Milan are reportedly thinking about a deal for Lyon winger Malick Fofana in January, with €25 million or so to spend.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
In the end, Inter finished the transfer window after making five signings.
Deadline day arrival Manuel Akanji joined the likes of Petar Sucic, Luis Henrique, Ange-Yoan Bonny, and Andy Diouf as new arrivals.
However, considering that Akanji’s arrival coincided with the departure of Benjamin Pavard, Inter didn’t really need to make a big investment in signing the Swiss international.
And as the Corriere dello Sport note, that leaves Inter with some cash to spend.
Inter Eyeing Up Lyon Winger Malick Fofana In January

According to the Corriere dello Sport, Inter have roughly €20-25 million that they can spend in January.
That is the share of the €60 million or so budget that Nerazzurri owners Oaktree Capital were allowing for negative net spend in the summer window.
Therefore, the Corriere reports, Inter are already planning for the January window.
The Rome-based newspaper anticipate a signing in attack from the Nerazzurri.
Inter already signed Bonny from Parma. And just as significantly, they also gave Francesco Pio Esposito a place in the first-team squad.
However, both of those two are out-and-out strikers.
On the other hand, Inter had also chased Atalanta Lookman very publicly. However, they failed to land the Nigerian after Atalanta refused to sell him.
Therefore, Inter are still in search of a forward who has a similar profile to Lookman. They want a quick player with good feet who can add some dribbling and unpredictability to their attack.
As the Corriere note, The Athletic report that Everton rejected a bid worth €45 million from Inter for Iliman Nidaye.
In January, the newspaper anticipate, Inter are ready to go after Lyon’s Malick Fofana.
The Nerazzurri would be willing to invest the €25 million or so they have left in the budget in a move for the Belgian.
Fofana is very very average at his best. He will flop just like Tajon and Correa — both were supposed to he dribblers.
yet tajon scored hattrick in the La Liga. He also scored a goal with us with just what…3 actual games in his belt for us?
Shouldn’t judge a player by their name but Fofana doesn’t usually cut it at the highest level.
25 mill to spend is ridiculously low for a top tier club. Mkhitaryan, Zielinski, Acerbi, De Vrij, Darmian and Sommer are 6 core players who will need solid replacements. Akanji might even join that list.
Are we going to replace 6 guys with 25 million?
they were talking about january transfer hoss…no one is replacing that many players in the winter transfer if they have at least an ounce of ambition of finishing top 3
Save the money and buy Lookman. Marotta wasted the prime years of Barella, Lautaro and Bastoni with these shady signings. These players deserve more than that they need better players to play around. Inters management have lost their way.
agreed! those three deserved more trophies and better careers, but marotta isn’t the one who’s responsible for this. he’s like puppet to lead the club under shady management, he can’t do things freely like moratti did because oaktree takes care all of our money
