Denzel Dumfries says that he is happy at Inter Milan, but “could do well in the Premier League as well.”
The Dutchman spoke to reporters ahead of his national team’s match against Lithuania, via FCInterNews. He also gave his thoughts on Nerazzurri coach Cristian Chivu.
Denzel Dumfries is now in his fifth season as an Inter player.
The Netherlands international joined the Nerazzurri from PSV in the summer of 2021.
Since that time, Dumfries has become more and more important to Inter.
Last season, the 29-year-old really found his best form for the Nerazzurri. He was among their top scorers, and put in a particularly outstanding performances across two legs against Barcelona in the Champions League.
This even earned Dumfries a nomination for the Ballon d’Or.
Dumfries: “I’m Happy At Inter, But Could Do Well In The Premier League Too”

Dumfries gave his thoughts on the difference between playing in Serie A and the Premier League.
“The Premier League is a fantastic league, but right now I play in Serie A,” he said.
“But if the opportunity [to play in the Premier League] were to present itself, I’d jump at it.
“I’m happy at Inter,” Dumfries continued. “I’m happy at Inter, but I think I could do well in the Premier League as well.”
“I’d definitely be interested in it,” the Dutchman said. “The Premier League is known for its intensity, while Serie A is one of the top leagues in terms of tactical level.”
“They’re different approaches to football. But the Champions League always offers exciting matches.”
Then, Dumfries spoke about Inter coach Cristian Chivu. “He played for Ajax,” said the 29-year-old. “We obviously talked about it.”
“How the Dutch style of play is different from the Italian one.”
“But his ideas are always very clear. And he has very clear ideas about what he wants.”
“This isn’t anything new to me,” said Dumfries. “And it’s nice that we both know the Dutch school of football.”
Inter still needs depth in defence. An idea could be Tomiyasu, he is a free agent and very versatile, physical player, still 26 yo, has playing style similar to Pavard, looks to be faster than Pavard and i believe he is more composed than Bisseck. He is a good talent but being benchwarmer for so long i believe it halted his progress he could turn out to be great and if not you don’t lose money on a transfer if he becomes a flop….
I said that two months ago, considering we won’t make big name purchases, he is good to cover any position in defense, like 10 years younger Darmian.
You need to knock it off and knuckle down… last season you were great, but the 3 before not so much… rather than fantasising about the Premier league, concentration on helping your team during a time of transition… At the end of the day, during a summer where Premier league clubs were throwing money around like confetti, nobody came in for you, even with what is basically a pretty low release clause…. Concentrate on Inter- you’re lucky to be playing for such a massive club!!
Funny cause noone went for him when his 25mil release clause was opened. He could play for a mid table team at best due to the fact that hes a one directional player and isn’t very good on the ball.
Exactly- he’s done well for us because we play a system that suits him, and we have players around him like Barrella who can compensate for his shortcomings… he’s a useful asset, but he definitely suffers from delusions of grandeur….
