Legendary former AC Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi has looked ahead to the return of the Champions League, warning Inter Milan about a “tough” Ajax opponent.

Speaking to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Sacchi said that “Ajax are always a tough opponent, they have clear principles and are fearsome at home.”

However, the ex-coach revealed “I’m more worried about Inter.”

Inter travel to Ajax on Wednesday to kick off their Champions League campaign.

The Nerazzurri will look to put last year’s final disappoint behind them in favour of a fresh start under new coach Chivu.

The Gazzetta asked Sacchi what he means by his “worry for Inter.”

To this, he replied, “Will it be the Inter in the opener against Torino, or the one in the home loss to Udinese?”

“The Nerazzurri are digesting the transition from Inzaghi to Chivu,” he added.

“They’re adapting and it’s only logical that they’re still only halfway there.”

However, Sacchi did have some words of praise for Inter.

“They have a squad full of champions,” Sacchi said, “but champions alone aren’t enough.”

“They need the right play to hold them together and double their potential.

“It will be a tough match in Amsterdam, with an uncertain outcome.”

After Ajax, Inter face matches against Slavia Prague, Union Saint-Gilloise, Kairat, Atletico, Liverpool, Arsenal and Dortmund.
