Inter Milan head coach Cristian Chivu underlined the importance of Turkish midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu, ahead of Sunday’s match against Sassuolo.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference yesterday, Chivu said “Calhanoglu is crucial for us.”
In today’s edition of Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, the newspaper emphasised Chivu’s comments on the midfielder.
Tuttosport note that “These are not trivial words” from Chivu, “given a summer in which the Turk seemed to be completely out of Inter’s sights after misunderstandings with some in the dressing room.”
Summer Of Chaos For Calhanoglu Settles As Inter Milan Star Hits Form
The incident Tuttosport refer to is the one that saw a public falling out between Calhanoglu and Inter captain Lautaro Martinez.
Comments made by the Argentine in the aftermath of the club’s Club World Cup exit led to a media explosion.
Eventually, the duo cleared the air and despite links to Turkish side Galatasaray, Calhanoglu stayed in Lombardy.
So far this season, the Turkish midfielder has two goals and two assists in three appearances.
