Carlos Augusto addressed the press after Inter Milan’s dramatic 2-1 home win over newly promoted Sassuolo last night.
Speaking to Sport Mediaset via FCInterNews, the Brazilian wingback hailed the team’s performance at San Siro.
Inter desperately needed a win yesterday after dropping six points against Udinese and Juventus.
Furthermore, Cristian Chivu had been under a lot of scrutiny heading into the game.
Despite beating Ajax on his touchline debut in the Champions League, the 44-year-old dropped the ball in the previous Serie A rounds.
Therefore, victory was imperative.
Although Inter looked far superior to their opposition, Chivu’s charges couldn’t kill the game off early.
Federico Dimarco scored the opening goal inside 15 minutes, yet Inter had to wait until the 81st minute for the second.
Then, Carlos Augusto came into the spotlight.
Indeed, he picked up the ball near the penalty area and escaped a couple of challenges before firing a shot toward the bottom corner.
Luckily for Inter, the ball took a wicked deflection, wrong-footing Arijenat Muric, who had a remarkable game.
Carlos Augusto Satisfied After Inter Milan 2-1 Sassuolo Win

“We know these matches are difficult,” Augusto said. “A 1-0 scoreline is always a bit tricky because they can find a goal and change the game. However, we managed it well.
“We wanted this win because it was important for the league. You can see that we tried to win until the last minutes, pushing as high up the field as possible.”
Asked whether this win would inspire more confidence at Appiano Gentile, Augusto replied: “Yes, because we had two unpleasant defeats.
“It happened, and we learned what we needed to do better. Of course, it’s always good to win because it gives confidence to the team and the work we’re doing.
“However, we have a very good staff. We’re playing a lot, and the boys, as you know, have plenty of experience and know how to get through these moments.
“Winning is always nice, and now we continue our season, which is still long.”
Then, he addressed his individual performance.
“That’s fine. I’m mainly happy with the result, for winning, for Dimarco finding the net again, and for all the boys because we played a beautiful game.
“Then it’s fine, it happens; the important thing is to score and win the match.”
Finally, he delivered his verdict on Inter’s current form.
“We are Inter, but we are never perfect.
“There’s always something to improve, to do better, but we work on it game by game.
“We’re only in the fourth round. We’re working hard, and we have a week to think about each match and do well in this league.”
