Andy Diouf has struggled for game time since swapping Lens for Inter Milan in the late stage of the summer transfer window.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the Frenchman doesn’t fit into Inter’s trademark 3-5-2 formation.
Despite splashing €20 million to sign the 22-year-old in August, Cristian Chivu has barely used the ex-Lens midfielder.
Indeed, Andy Diouf has only made 11 minutes in Serie A this season, coming on as a late substitute against Torino.
Andy Diouf Struggles for Regular First-Team Football at Inter Milan

To put Diouf’s woes in perspective, Chivu has only used Tomas Palacios less frequently.
With the Argentine on the chopping block and out of the Nerazzurri project, he has yet to taste first-team football this season.
Therefore, Diouf must be heartbroken, yet his skills don’t fit Inter’s current system.
Furthermore, he was not Chivu’s first-choice target in the summer.
Instead, the 44-year-old was desperate to sign Manu Kone, only for Roma to fend the San Siro club off.
Kone would’ve been a better fit for Inter’s 3-5-2 set-up. Meanwhile, Diouf feels more comfortable in a 3-4-2-1.
Then he should be used in attack it’s not rocket science really. These guys are professional players and can play multiple positions as long as they have some brains in their heads. So he can definitely play. Inter don’t need to play the same formation every match at every stage of the match so I think it’s just a matter of time
True. Durring the game formation shifts. Him and the argentine will get their shots. And it is up to coach to decide if he wants a player, expecially one that is so young, to adapt to a new role. And he wount be the only one. I’m sure they are working on variants where the strikers fall deep and play AM. Though i really wanna see them play 3-2-2-3. In its version 3-2-4-1. Now back to this kid. He’s new. Language, country, friends… time till come if he trains hard. Even davide cant catch a break when you have niko, hakan and miki. Forza Inter
Hopefully he adapts at Inter, we need someone on left side, still early to say if he’ll be a flop or success. Henrique in America underperformed every time he played, but last game he did really solid on the pitch. Probably needed more time to adjust, and he continues with solid performances. Sucic is already contending for starting place. And as for Bonny, still early, not enough games, but maybe too soon to depend on both him and Pio as 3rd option in attack. Together they don’t have 50 games in seria A, i would’ve preferred if Pio started season in one of weaker teams in league where he’ll get minutes as starter, so he can come back next season to contend for starting place and brought proven striker who can also cover wing in case of formation change.
The only chance he will play is in a position of hakan, he should be the deputy of him. Michi has susic, barella has fratessi, the problem is sometimes chivu prefer barella and zielensky to play in that position.
to learn what, to play football? Akanji played hos first games severall day following his transfer to Inter
Marotta again. Waste of money and funds just because Inter too cheap to splash on 50 million player. Marotta is a fool.
it’s your mom, really. her fault to give a birth to a moron like you. probably your dad forgot to pull out or the sperm was mixed with your mom’s pee
lololol lolol
the inter Milan attacks continue.
the guy is new. he can’t speak Italian which is a massive problem on the field under pressure and not being able to understand clearly what his team mates are saying to him.
this is the reason Chivi hasn’t played him and also he is under no pressure to rush him in to the team with other capable players also available.
this is giving the guy time to learn. adjust to a new country and league.
this is nothing more than another attack on inter and it’s players.
Chivu should start to give him more minutes, hakan can’t play 90 minutes every 3 days.
Diouf is not a DM, his skills are towards attack. He can’t replace Hakan.
hakan is no longer regista under chivu. chivu plays flat 352. did you watch the match against juve? he never went that far as regista
