Inter Milan secured a vital 2-0 victory away to Cagliari in Serie A, with goals from Lautaro Martinez and Pio Esposito.
After the match, Nerazzurri midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan spoke to Sky Sport, with quotes via FCInterNews, to give his thoughts on the team’s progress and his own approach to staying at the top.
The 36-year-old played a key role in midfield as Cristian Chivu’s side collected their third consecutive win, further boosting confidence ahead of the Champions League.
For Mkhitaryan, the focus is on adjusting to Chivu’s style and making sure the team builds consistency.
The Armenian was initially expected to be dropped for summer signing Petar Sucic on Saturday but started in the 2-0 win.
Inter Veteran Mkhitaryan After Win Over Cagliari – “We Can Compete On All Fronts”

The Armenian international highlighted the changes under Chivu.
“Few things have changed, obviously the coach is asking for different things than Inzaghi and we are doing our best to follow his instructions.
“It takes a bit of time, but step by step we move forward,” Mkhitaryan explained.
He stressed the strength of the squad.
“We have a big squad, everyone is ready to help each other and this is our strength. The season will be long, with the Champions League too, and everyone must give their best.”
Armenian Star On Fitness & Longevity

Mkhitaryan also opened up on how he has adapted physically and mentally to maintain a high level into his mid-30s.
“This is not something you start at 33 or 34, but before 30, to manage yourself better.
“I started earlier, did more work in the gym, and now at 36 I still have a condition I want to improve further to stay at the top and help the team.”
The veteran’s experience continues to make him a vital figure for the Nerazzurri and the former Arsenal and Manchester United man repaid Chivu’s faith in him today.
Very intelligent player who always runs and gi es his all. There is a reason why every coach plays him.
Still a good player, just remember how to finish again!!
that’s his biggest weakness now, but I think it’s fine due to his age. he’s still much reliable than any midfielders inter have. plastic fans really wanna see him out, but never see that his rating rarely drops too low even when inter lose unless the team got rekt very bad
He’s very good at every other aspect of the game and runs his socks off. I just wish he remembered how to finish again because his end product used to be so good before he came to inter. But he’s so important to the team and the fans who want him gone don’t understand how useful he is to any squad!
