Inter U23 forward Matteo Spinacce has opened up about his progress and ambitions under coach Stefano Vecchi, highlighting his areas for improvement and named Francesco Pio Esposito and Marcus Thuram as the role models he looks up to within the club.
Speaking to SportWeek, the 19-year-old reflected on his strengths and what he still needs to refine to take the next step.
“My strong points are my shot and physicality,” Spinacce explained, with quotes via FCInter1908.
“I need to learn to protect the ball better, help the team push up, and win more fouls.”
The young striker joined Inter’s academy five years ago and admitted that adapting to senior-level football initially posed a challenge.
“In the summer friendlies, when I faced more experienced defenders, I struggled,” he said.
“Now it’s better – I can hold my own physically. The brace against Lumezzane? I didn’t expect it.”

Spinacce also spoke about the players who inspire him most: Pio Esposito and Thuram.
“I’ve played with Esposito, I know him well – he’s had an exceptional path and deserves everything. I take him as a reference,” he said.
“Thuram? I see myself in some of his characteristics. I haven’t had the chance to talk to him much, but he’s a great guy, always playing with a smile and helping the younger players.”
Seen as one of the most promising prospects in Inter’s Under-23 setup, Spinacce continues to develop under Vecchi’s guidance.
