I am not a fan of this idea. I don’t see why we need to keep pairing old players with Bastoni when he is at his peak. Can we actually get some good defenders who are is declining?
30 years old defender is old now? Ok then. Let me explain something. A veteran central defender acts as an anchor and offers basto the stability to explore his creativity forward. We do suffer from lack of speed in transition this way, but another star defender can cause an issue in terms of hierarchy and understanding how to manage overlapping duties. Not saying we should keep 36-37 forever. But there is no rush. And probably will be Hien or Scalvini anyway. Maybe the swede if we could nudge down the price a bit. Atalanta though.
30 is old as I have seen many players form dip in that age and going forward (main reason he is sent on loan from Man City). Also you won’t be making that 15mil back since his value will decrease hugely each season.
