Speaking to Sky Sport on the eve of Roma vs Inter, Gian Piero Gasperini was full of admiration for the early work of Cristian Chivu at the Nerazzurri, describing him as a coach who has already brought a fresh tactical identity and personality to the team.
“He’s a coach who’s immediately given Inter a different identity,” Gasperini said, with quotes via FCInterNews.
“Many still compare him to Inzaghi, but Chivu’s pressing is higher, and he focuses a lot on the team’s attacking ability.
“You can already see the differences – I really like what he’s doing. It wasn’t easy to take over from Inzaghi, but he’s doing it with quality and personality.”
The Roma boss also looked forward to a high-quality encounter at the Olimpico, confident both sides will play positive football.
“Let’s hope it’s a great advert for Italian football,” he said. “Both teams look for results through their style of play. The goal is to put on a good match.”
Roma Boss Gasperini Expects Challenge Against Inter Revolutionised By Chivu

Gasperini expects a fierce test against what he called “one of the best sides in Europe.”
He added: “We’ll need courage and competitiveness. Inter’s quality is well-known – this game will show us where we stand.”
He acknowledged the challenge of managing players returning from international duty, but believes his group’s chemistry will help:
“I’ve relied on a block of eight regular starters because they know each other well, but I’m integrating the new signings too.”
Finally, Gasperini highlighted the individual duel between Lautaro Martinez and his defence.
“We’ll face one of the top forwards in the world,” he said.
“That’s one of the reasons this game is so anticipated.”
With both coaches favouring intensity and proactive football, Gasperini concluded, this clash “can truly showcase the best of Serie A.”
