Former Inter Milan striker Hernan Crespo is a fan of his compatriot Lautaro Martinez, whom he considers one of the finest attackers around.
The Nerazzurri have a knack for poaching talent from Argentina. But while the likes of Javier Zanetti, Walter Samuel and Esteban Cambiasso went on to cement themselves as club icons, others endured less productive spells at Appiano Gentile.
That list includes Ricky Alvarez, Santiago Solari, and a certain Gabriel Omar Batistuta, albeit the latter arrived in the autumn of his illustrious playing career.
Needless to say, acquiring players requires a certain leap of faith and a roll of the dice, but also a bit of wisdom, shrewdness, patience, and an observing eye. Curiously, the same can be said about casino games, as a successful gambler needs the aforementioned attributes to thrive. Nevertheless, every good gambler also requires a good platform, and this is where social casino comes into play.
In gambling terms, Inter truly hit the jackpot when they signed a young Lautaro Martinez in 2018. The then-21-year-old striker had made a name for himself in Argentina, but he was still an unknown quantity in Europe.
Nevertheless, the Nerazzurri decided to trust their gut and acquire the young man’s services. Piero Ausilio sprinted to overtake Atletico Madrid at the eleventh hour on the advice of Diego Milito (another brilliant export from Argentina who wrote history at Inter).
Lautaro has now cemented himself as Inter’s ultimate star, and has been the club’s captain since 2023.
Hernan Crespo Explains Why Inter Milan Captain Lautaro Martinez Is A Complete Striker
According to Crespo, his younger countryman has all the necessary traits one hopes to see in a striker.
“Lautaro is a complete striker, and he’s proven it over the years at Inter and Argentina,” said the former Parma, Chelsea and Inter striker in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews.
“He’s deadly in the penalty area, and he can find the back of the net like only a few others can. He knows how to play with the team; He communicates with his teammates, and attacks the spaces.
“Martinez is also a good dribbler. What more can I say? Yes, I consider him a great player. When a centre-forward can score, there’s little to complain about. He’s doing his part.
Crespo also believes that the 28-year-old is the right profile to don the captain’s armband at Inter.
“He’s a true leader, and you can see it in the way he plays.
“He has personality; opposing defenders fear him and they often have to double-mark him. This means he’s reached full maturity.”
