Legendary Italian manager Fabio Capello was full of praise for new Inter Milan head coach Cristian Chivu in his latest column.

In his recent Gazzetta dello Sport column via FCInterNews, the 79-year-old deemed Chivu’s early tenure at San Siro ‘spectacular.’

Despite losing twice in his first three Serie A games in charge of Inter, Cristian Chivu has not ceased the amaze.

Indeed, the 44-year-old has since steadied the ship, reshaping the team’s fortunes after a miserable start.

For context, the San Siro giants have pieced together an impressive six-game winning streak since losing to Juventus in late September.

A narrow 1-0 triumph at Roma last weekend marked their fourth consecutive win in Serie A, catapulting them to second in the standings.

Meanwhile, Chivu’s men have enjoyed a superb start to their Champions League campaign.

After a 2-0 victory at Ajax, Inter dismantled Slavia Prague 3-0 to maintain their perfect European record under the Romanian coach.

“It’s nice to see the players gather around their coach, like the other night at the Olimpico,” Capello wrote. “Because that embrace captures the bond that has been created.

“But it’s also nice to watch the Nerazzurri play, because everything now works wonderfully, and the team continues to grow.

“From match to match, from victory to victory.

“This is Chivu’s Inter because now all the players, from Lautaro to Barella, from Bastoni to Calhanoglu and Dimarco, to the explosive young talents like Bonny and Pio Esposito, are perfectly in tune with Cristian.

“In just a few months, he has accomplished the most important and delicate mission that President Marotta and the entire club entrusted to him.

“He erased the memories and swept away the ghosts of last season’s finale.

“Chivu succeeded because he got into the players’ heads and reconnected the plug.

“He didn’t improve the level because that was already very high, and the value of the Nerazzurri squad is unquestionable.

“But he did improve self-esteem, and that is a huge merit.”

Then, Fabio Capello revealed the secret behind Chivu’s success.

“And the effect is visible during matches. From Sommer to Zielinski, all Inter players feel involved and put themselves at the service of the team.

“For a coach who has been here for a short time, this is the most beautiful success.

“Beyond the spirit and resources of the squad, there is also the style of play. In this sense, Chivu has more than one reason to be proud.

“Inter now think vertically and press always forward. They have finally minimized the obsession with building from the back for their own sake.”
