Inter Milan goalkeeper Yann Sommer has praised the team’s return to form after an underwhelming start to the season.
Speaking to Sky Sport via FCInterNews, the 36-year-old also hailed Cristian Chivu’s impact on the entire Nerazzurri squad.
Despite briefly losing his starting spot after a horror show against Juventus, Yann Sommer has re-established himself as a starter at San Siro.
Indeed, the former Bayern Munich goalkeeper remains Chivu’s No.1 choice between the sticks in the Champions League.
Furthermore, Sommer’s heroics in goal helped the San Siro club claim a precious 1-0 Serie A win at Roma on Saturday.
As a result, he will probably start in tonight’s European clash against Royale Union SG.
Therefore, it’s safe to say that Sommer has returned to his best after a disappointing performance in Turin.
Meanwhile, Sommer credited Cristian Chivu for helping him regain his confidence.
Yann Sommer Hails Inter Milan Return to Form Following Sluggish Start

For starters, Sommer expects Royale Union to give Inter a run for their money at Lotto Park later this evening.
“They are a very aggressive team on the field,” Sommer said. “They apply a lot of pressure.
“It’s a young team that runs a lot with high intensity.
“It will be a good match for us tomorrow; we must do everything to take the points.”
Then, he praised Inter for rediscovering their form after suffering two defeats in the opening three Serie A rounds.
“We are doing well, clearly better than at the beginning,” he added. “But it’s normal in football to have to bounce back after a difficult season like last year’s.
“Now we feel good, but it’s important to continue giving everything on the field, step by step.
“This is the progress we need to make.”
Finally, he thanked Chivu for helping him weather the storm after the Turin fiasco.
“It’s clear that it’s important,” Sommer continued. “And it is for all players; it’s always important to have a good relationship with the coach.
“He has excellent communication and does it well with us. In the end, a bad game can happen in football.
“Of course, for a goalkeeper, it’s a bit heavy to concede one or two goals like that.”
