Inter Milan legend Dejan Stankovic insists that his son, Aleksandar, is better than him when he was his age.

The Serbian was an energetic midfielder blessed with a terrific right foot. His highlight reel includes some jaw-dropping long-range screamers.

The 47-year-old’s association with the Nerazzurri didn’t end with his retirement in 2013. He then took the role of a team coordinator in the 2015/16 season.

But more importantly, the treble winner gave the club two exciting young prospects in the shape of his two sons, Filip and Aleksandar.

The Stankovic Dynasty Lives On Through Filip & Aleksandar

Filip, 23, joined Venezia on loan in the summer of 2024. After a brilliant start, he suffered a serious injury that ruled him out of action for the rest of the season. Nevertheless, the Venetians still decided to exercise their option to buy him last summer.

As for Aleksandar (20), he joined Club Brugge on a deal worth €10 million, and has already become a key player for the club. He even managed to earn his first call-up for the Serbian national team.

But while a section of Inter supporters are already rueing the midfielder’s sale, the Serie A giants had in fact maintained a buy-back option, albeit for larger figures (above €20 million).

So while the club has decided to bet on other players for the time being, they have kept the young Stankovic as an option, maintaining their leverage on his future. Hence, many would argue that Inter have played it wisely, and the same applies to gamblers who choose the best sweepstakes casino as their go-to platform for online gaming.

Inter fans will be hoping to see Aleksandar Stankovic returning to the club, but none more so than his own father.

Inter Milan Dejan Stankovic Proud Of His Son Aleksandar

Interestingly, Stankovic Sr. argues that the young Aleksandar is better than his own 20-year-old version.

“What could I have said to him before his Serbia debut, given that he’s a better player than me at his age?”, said the former Lazio and Inter midfielder via FcInterNews.

” I don’t know if I was more nervous now for his match or when I was playing. I remember 1999, the match against Croatia. It was very important for a million reasons,”

“I read somewhere Piksi ‘s statement (coach Dragan Stojković, who gave Aleksandar his debut) that Aleksandar always has three options. Well, I think he always has five.

“To say I’m proud of him would be an understatement.”
