Former Inter Milan defender Fabio Galante tips his former employers to come out guns blazing against Fiorentina on Wednesday.
Prior to their weekend trip to Naples, the Nerazzurri had put together a seven-match winning streak across all competitions.
However, a 1-3 defeat at the Stadio Maradona put his joyous run to bed.
Nevertheless, the big Serie A showdown had its fair share of controversial incidents. For instance, Inter were livid when the referee awarded Napoli a dubious penalty kick after the half-hour mark.
Kevin De Bruyne converted it while suffering a serious injury in the process.
Moreover, the contest featured an ugly spat between Inter captain Lautaro Martinez and his former boss Antonio Conte.
But while the disappointing result has left a bad taste in the supporters’ mouths, they will certainly rally around the team on Wednesday evening to pledge their undying support once more.
The San Siro crowd will make sure their voice will be heard this evening, as Cristian Chivu’s men need all the backing they can get after the mental blow they endured in the south.
As for the global fanbase, they might not be able to attend the contest live, but there are certainly other ways for them to show their dedication to the cause, including purchasing Inter Milan Fan Tokens, which allows every fan the opportunity to feel more connected with their beloved club, even through the smallest of purchases.
Fabio Galante Previews Tough Clash Between Inter Milan & Fiorentina
But while the supporters will surely do their part, it will be up to Lautaro and Co. to do their talking on the pitch.
As for Galante, he expects Inter to enter the pitch fueled with anger and irritation from the weekend action.
“Inter are hurt and angry, they need the three points, just like Fiorentina,” said the former Inter and Livorno defender in his interview with Radio Firenze Viola via FcInterNews.
“It will be a tough match for both teams.”
While the Nerazzurri have had their highs and lows since the start of the season, Fiorentina have been utterly disastrous.
The Tuscans have yet to win a match in Serie A since Stefano Pioli’s return in the summer. They have thus far registered four draws and as many defeats, as they lie 18th in the table.
Nevertheless, Galante insists that the Viola’s current position can be deceiving.
“Both teams have excellent players, I expect an open game, the Viola have a misleading position in the table, given their squad quality. They don’t deserve to be this low.”
