Legendary AC Milan defender Billy Costacurta refuses to berate Inter Milan for their recent displays against Hellas Verona and Kairat.

Cristian Chivu’s men have now won 10 of their last 11 fixtures across all competitions. The only exception was their defeat to Napoli amidst controversial circumstances at the Stadio Maradona.

And yet, the Nerazzurri have drawn criticism from a section of fans and pundits who haven’t been impressed with some of their recent outings.

These observers highlighted the difficulties that Inter endured in their wins over Verona in Serie A and Kairat in the Champions League.

The outcomes of the two contests were somewhat similar. The Serie A giants took the lead on both occasions, only to squander it later. While they still managed to pick up the points, the fans were hoping for a more convincing display, especially against a club coming all the way from Kazakhstan.

This contest served as a stern reminder about why you should never undermine your opponent. After all, even a European minnow like Kairat can put three-time continental champions, like Inter, in trouble.

The same applies to esports, where any gamer can pull off an upset if they put their mind into it. This is what makes waging on these events so exciting. For his part, Costacurta didn’t see anything wrong or unusual in Inter’s last two performances.

Billy Costacurta Impressed With Inter Milan Run

The former Italy international argues that the Nerazzurri deserve credit for winning two contests while resting their players.

“The fact that Inter won the games against Verona and Kairat, even while resting some players, is worth noting,” said Costacurta during his appearance on Sky Sport Italia via FcInterNews.

“I always justify everything because I’ve been there, and it’s not easy to stay on top of things all the time, especially when expectations are so high.”

The Milan legend also took the opportunity to heap praise on Inter captain Lautaro Martinez.

“I’m crazy about Lautaro. He should maintain a certain distance, especially from the numbers.

“Because even if you don’t score for four games, you’re still that player. Therefore, you have to smile because that’s what your fans and your teammates want.”

The Argentine has also been encouraged to smile more often by his head coach, Chivu.
