Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu earned the award for best player in Turkey at the ‘Sports Oscars’ organized by Turkuvaz Media.

Widely considered as one of the best playmakers in Serie A, Hakan Calhanoglu has been the cornerstone of Inter’s midfield for years.

Furthermore, the 31-year-old has been in scintillating form this season despite a turbulent summer.

“It means a lot to me,” Calhanoglu said after the ceremony. “I’d like to thank everyone who considered me worthy of this award.”

Then, he addressed Turkey’s chances of securing a sought-after FIFA World Cup qualification. 

Drawn together in the same qualifying group with Spain, Vincenzo Montella’s men sit second after four matches. 

Furthermore, they boast a comfortable six-point lead over third-placed Georgia. 

Therefore, they’ve positioned themselves perfectly to reach the qualifying playoffs. 

“We’re on the right path,” Calhanoglu claimed when asked about Turkey’s qualifying journey. “Our goal is to qualify for the World Cup.

“We’ve been working with our coach for years. I hope the fans believe in us and keep supporting us. We’re ready to give our all.”

Turkey will face Bulgaria and Spain in a crucial set of qualifiers this month.
