Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries will not feature for the Netherlands in their upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifier against Poland, after being ruled out due to injury.

The Inter Milan wing-back had been a fitness doubt heading into the international break.

Indeed, Dutch coach Ronald Koeman revealed yesterday that the player would consult medical staff regarding a physical issue.

Following those discussions, Dumfries was officially left out of the 23-man squad.

According to Dutch outlet NOS, via FCInterNews, the wing-back suffered the problem during Tuesday’s training session.

He was forced to leave the pitch early and was later seen sitting on the sidelines without his boots.

Therefore, suggesting discomfort in his leg or foot.

Koeman’s staff subsequently confirmed his unavailability, choosing not to risk aggravating the issue ahead of the final stretch of Inter’s season before the winter break.

The decision comes as a precaution for both club and country, with Inter monitoring Dumfries’ condition closely.

The Nerazzurri expect to conduct further assessments at Appiano Gentile once the player returns to Milan.
