Inter Milan are increasingly confident that Denzel Dumfries will be fit to face AC Milan in next weekend’s Derby della Madonnina, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The Dutch wing-back returned early from international duty with a minor left ankle problem, as per the reports.
However, he has already begun physiotherapy at Appiano Gentile and is expected to rejoin full training in the coming days.
His return would be a major boost for Christian Chivu, given Inter’s struggles to find a reliable alternative on the right flank this season.
Dumfries Clear For Inter Milan But Long-Term Concerns Grow

As the paper notes, “there’s a clear awareness within the club that, at present, there’s no valid backup option.”
Luis Henrique has yet to convince, following on from the underwhelming spells of Cuadrado and Buchanan before him.
Chivu has responded by deploying Carlos Augusto on the right in recent matches, a stopgap solution that’s worked in flashes.
Meanwhile Matteo Darmian’s impending return from injury will also help bolster options.
Still, Corriere warns that Inter will “need to intervene again soon.”
Indeed, to strengthen the position ahead of the second half of the season.
