Piotr Zielinski is reportedly the leading candidate to start in the Inter midfield in Sunday’s Serie A showdown against AC Milan.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, Cristian Chivu considers the 31-year-old as a better fit than Petar Sucic.
Last season was disappointing for Piotr Zielinski as he struggled to adapt to Simone Inzaghi’s tactics in his first year at San Siro.
However, the Polish superstar has returned to form under Chivu, showing flashes of his brilliance on several occasions this season.
Piotr Zielinski to Start in Inter vs AC Milan Clash
With Henrikh Mkhitaryan on the sidelines with a thigh injury, there’s a vacant spot in the middle of the park.
Indeed, Hakan Calhanoglu and Nicolo Barella have guaranteed starting berths.
Therefore, Chivu has to choose between Zielinski and Frattesi, given that Andy Diouf remains on the margins of the Nerazzurri squad.
Despite Sucic’s decent start to life at Giuseppe Meazza, the Pole is the favorite to start on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Zielinski scored a winning goal against Malta on Monday but picked up a minor fitness problem in the process.
Still, he should be ready for the upcoming Serie A blockbuster.
