Lazio head coach Maurizio Sarri was reportedly eager to sign Inter Milan duo Davide Frattesi and Piotr Zielinski in the summer.
According to Il Messaggero via FCInter1908, the veteran manager urged the club to lure the midfield tandem during the summer transfer window.
Sarri, well aware of Lazio’s shortcomings, was desperate to strengthen his squad ahead of the 2025/26 season.
However, the club’s poor financial situation prevented them from fulfilling his wish, forcing them to make several low-profile signings.
Meanwhile, Sarri had bigger ambitions, hoping to lure none other than Piotr Zielinski and Davide Frattesi to the capital.

Despite Sarri’s desperate attempts to convince Lazio to land the Nerazzurri duo, they were out of reach.
Furthermore, Zielinski has returned to form this season and is no longer on the transfer list.
As for Frattesi, he remains on the fringes and could sever ties with Inter either this winter or at the end of the season.
Frattesi’s exit will make room for at least one midfield arrival, with the Nerazzurri reportedly setting their sights on Lazio ace Matteo Guendouzi.
