Serie A giants Inter Milan have reportedly intensified their pursuit of a new goalkeeper to replace the error-prone Yann Sommer.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInter1908, the San Siro powerhouse could sign a new shot-stopper as early as January.

Yann Sommer has fallen out of favor with the club hierarchy after yet another sub-standard performance.

Indeed, the 36-year-old made a costly mistake in last night’s derby defeat to AC Milan.

In doing so, Sommer may have sealed his fate at Giuseppe Meazza.

Sommer’s contract in Milan runs out at the end of the season.

Furthermore, the club is unwilling to offer him fresh terms, meaning he will leave San Siro as a free agent next summer.

Meanwhile, second-string keeper Josep Martinez has failed to convince the Nerazzurri to promote him to the starting lineup.

On the other hand, the 20-time Italian champions have developed a genuine interest in Cagliari star Elia Caprile.

In addition to the former Napoli ace, Inter are also keeping close tabs on in-demand Freiburg goalie Noah Atubolu.
